I hope the Hello Kitty factory offers tours

I've been wanting to go to Japan for, oh, a while now, and I finally snapped last night and decided that, hell or high water, I was going to Japan this fall (prob. November). I'm dying to see Tokyo.

I've been putting this off because I kept waiting for someone to go with me, but that's not going to happen in this lifetime... so, fudge it, I'm using my frequent flyer miles and staying in an affordable hostel and that's that. I also really, really want to hang out with these guys:

http://www.silverbeats.com/

They were the opening act for a concert I attended last week, and they were bloody brilliant and adorable and awesome and fun.

And hey, I'd love a travel buddy or two, if anyone's interested, but you have to be willing to tolerate me for a good ten days, and that's not for the faint of heart. Oh, and I speak no Japanese at all.

i want to go!! seriously!! i just have no money and i lack the ability to travel in the fall. and for that, i suck. but also - don't forget about artbaselmiamibeach that you have to come with us this time. i mean, duh - japan's obviously more important/better. but still.

And you know what? I just remembered this morning that I'd made plans to go to Vienna in December (free place to stay! woo!), so Japan will have to be postponed. Duh, PSK. I hope the Silver Beats are still kicking by the time I make it there (maybe for spring break 2008--ooh, that could work!).

Still, I'm all over Miami like stink on a monkey. But we're not staying in the creepy hooker motel.

Tokyo! Let me know when and I will, totally, sell a kidney, should it come to that! Eh, I have only had travel plans once in my life, I'm always free ;-D
(And, of course, I have "Tokyo Storm Warning" in my head now)

Okay, I'm game. Let's go to Japan.

What do you mean the trip is cancelled???

no no - no hooker motel, don't worry. tom apparently saw a bug in his room and now no one is allowed to stay there ever again (i like how it took six months for this story to surface from his unconscious, but whatever). i think i know where we're going to be staying, but i can't say 100% sure... but if it is the place i'm thinking of, it's pretty sweet. anyway, we'll talk soon...

oh and please don't kill me, but it looks like the art tour has been bumped ahead a week, which is actually great because we have nothing prepared. at all. except i'll miss seeing you, which will suck.

oh lastly (LONGEST COMMENTS EVER): when i was last in philly, i went back to that dim sum restaurant and we got fortune cookies (of course) at the end of the meal. my fortune now sits on the cover of my computer: "a nice cake is waiting for you." YES! anyway. been meaning to share that forever.

Okay, the way I see it, we're all going (although, Brad, we may have to postpone until next spring). And we'll all have a kick-ass time. Amy, I'm tasking you with getting us bug-free lodging. Brad, you're in charge of flight arrangements. HB, you're our fundraiser; I don't care how you get the money. Me, I'll handle food and entertainment. I'm thinking, in addition to the Hello Kitty Factory and the Silver Beats, that we include in the schedule the Happy Smile Super Challenge Family Wish Show, Tokyo Disneyland, and our own harajuku costumes. I propose we dress as hippie ewoks.

Travel arrangements are easy. Other than myself, we're all women. I just need to get us on a navy vessel with an all-male crew.

I will take a cue from 'The Simpsons' and deal in souls!
...and remember that it wouldn't be a Japanese holiday without awakening some evil entity or monster. Just a ToHo tainted thought :-)

I beleive I am an expert on this subject because my Tier 2 friends went to Tokyo and I just watched Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Apparently at night, the youth of Tokyo disappear into underground parking garages and drift race expensively modified 4 cyclinder vehicles while young girls in mini skirts and thigh high boots watch. You may want to check your AAA travel book to see where the best drift races are. Hope this helps.
